Jacqui Smart - Operational Director and specialising in coaching and directing leaders

A qualified coach and with over 20 years of senior level leadership, management and coaching experience and with a passion for mentoring and developing others. I initially qualified as an occupational therapist and worked across a range of health & care settings in my early career and later moved into clinical operational management with my first Director role in 2000. Qualifications including MBA, Dip COT, PG Cert Coaching, PGCert Leadership

Tracy Harman - Head of Clinical Education

I have over 25 years’ experience in nursing working in community nursing as a community staff nurse, district nurse, practice teacher and clinical lead. My role includes several areas including clinical education, pre and post registration students, commissioned and non-commissioned students, quality and safety training, continuing professional development and safeguarding. I have a particular focus on quality, ensuring that our training packages are of the highest standard.

Sarah Van Der Merwe - Head of Apprenticeships

I have over 20 years’ experience in leadership and management and 10 years’ in work based learning. My management career began, as an Operations Manager on RCCL cruise liners. Being a three striped officer managing up to sixteen staff members all from different countries and with different backgrounds - it really helped me to understand the importance of team dynamics, emotional intelligence and communication. I’m truly passionate about apprenticeships and the benefits they bring to both individuals wanting to develop their career and for businesses wanting to build an upskilled workforce. My intention is to offer high quality health and care apprenticeship programmes that support individuals to adapt and manage change in a positive way and give them new skills, knowledge and opportunities in their specific subject areas.

Julia Wilkinson - Head of Leadership and Talent

I am a leadership and development consultant with over 20 years’ experience within the learning and development sector. My expertise includes leadership and management development, coaching and mentoring, talent development and the bespoke design of programmes with scenario led learning. My aspiration is to empower people within the care sector to feel confident to take accountability to challenge ourselves and others as leaders.

Sara Stanton - Compliance and Governance Officer

I have over 30 years of nursing, professional leadership and operational management experience in primary care working closely with commissioners. I act as a “critical friend” for TLE colleagues, benchmarking against Ofsted standards and Government technical apprenticeship guidance to ensure we provide compliant, high quality training. I also provide specialist clinical nurse development and training.

Anne McAngus - Business Development Lead

My focus since 2015 has been business development – looking out for training opportunities across the health sector. I have always believed that being open to learning and education in whatever form it may take, can only empower us however small, and by being open to this will return many doors of opportunity. Since working in TLE I have taken the opportunity to become a qualified assessor and trainer in Business Administration, Customer Service and Type Coach, and really enjoy teaching and mentoring.

Catherine Ray - Lead for Systems, Reporting and Services

My background includes 15 years working with children and adults with learning disabilities. I have been part of the training team since 2008 and have seen huge developments during that time in the recognition of the benefits that learning has for individuals in their career development. I also manage the administration hub for TLE, which is based across two sites and I’m responsible for the learning management system, MyLearning.
