New Born Hearing Screening Diploma Level 3

The purpose of this Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners is to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding in the health workforce. This qualification confirms competence in the specific skill of New Born Hearing Screening.

To achieve the Level 3 Diploma for New Born Hearing Screening (NBHS) learners must achieve a maximum of 56 credits. They must gain 37 credits from the Mandatory Units and 19 credits from the NBHS pathway.

There are 13 mandatory units which will be delivered through the Mandatory Units process. The learner will be required to complete these units as well as the NBHS module which has 5 units.

  • Prepare to undertake a New Born hearing screen
  • The Ear and Hearing
  • Undertake an Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) New Born Hearing Screen
  • Undertake an Automated Oto-Acoustic Emissions (AOAE) New Born Hearing Screen
  • Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people

On completion of all the units the learner must successfully complete a practical assessment Observed Clinical Structured Examination (OSCE) day. This day will be at a specific venue the cost of which is included in the course fees, however if you choose to attend an alternative OSCE assessment other than the offered session this will be at your own personal additional cost.
